Family memories

Family Memories
Families can sometimes be a pain in the behind.  At other times families are the glue that holds each individual member together when they want to fall apart.  My family has its own share of issues like everyone else but whenever one of us is facing a crisis we all unite pulling one another along the way. For example one of my cousins was diagnosed with cancer.  She desperately needed bone marrow from a compatible match.  We all lined up to be tested and offer our support in her time of need.  Before her sickness I attended her wedding, a small but beautiful, ceremony in my aunt’s backyard.  I had babysat her kids.  She would do my hair and I got all of her clothes that were too small for her. She was the coolest person I knew, always wearing the latest fashions and hair styles.  As an officer in the Marines she traveled the world and was a huge role model in my eyes.  We shared so many memories, both good and bad.  Sadly my cousin did not win her battle with cancer.  Her death taught me a valuable lesson;  life is short and we have to live it to the fullest.  We have to love one another as if each day is our last.   There’s a saying that goes “Don’t wait until someone is dead to give them flowers, give them flowers while they are here to appreciate them.”
